Referee courses will be run bi-monthly, with venues posted on this site. For 2006, the next clinics will be:
March 20 2006 at 7.00 PM at Avondale College stadium.
May 22 2006 at 7.00 PM at Avondale College stadium.
July 17 2006 at 7.00 PM at Avondale College stadium.
The cost is $30.00 ($15.00 registration with VNZ, $15.00 for FIVB rule book and photocopying of course materials)
Auckland and New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships 2006
Waitakere -Auckland teams performed strongly at the recent Auckland schools championships at AUT stadium 16-18 March
In the girls' competition, Mt Albert Grammar School for Girls placed third after a tough semifinal loss to eventual winners,
McAuley High School. Avondale College, defending champions from the past seven consecutive years, placed seventh in a rebuilding
year. MAGS will forgo the national tournament due to a previously planned trip to the Cook Islands. Avondale will be
joined by Green Bay HS and Diocesan school in Christchurch 28 March- 1 April 2006.
In the boys', Avondale College won with unexpected ease (3-0) over a dominant Penrose High School, coached by Hina
Ranga. Its been over ten years since Avondale won this tournament and their re-emergence is due to the coaching of Craig
His experience is being applied fully in his guidance of the young Avondale squad. MVP honours went to Aisake Vulawalu,
new to the school this year and a former Fiji junior national representative.
Auckland Grammar School placed a creditable fourth, losing to a strong Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate team in their bronze
medal playoff. Both these teams will represent the Waitakere- Auckland region at the national tournament in Christchurch.
As sad as it is to see the decline of former powerhouse, Kelston Boys High School, its great to see these teams carrying the

Volleyball New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship 2006.
One hundred twenty six teams will contest the national championships at Christchurch 28 March to 1 April. Split into
five divisions, winners will be decided on Saturday 1 April 2006. Returning to defend their titles will be Otumoetai College
boys and Tauranga Girls College.
Leading the Auckland regions' challenge will be Avondale, Penrose, Hillary and Grammar in the boys and McAuley, Manurewa,
Mangere and Otahuhu in the girls.
Past top performers, Avondale College girls will be starting from an unfamiliar starting ranking of 36th overall, but
chances are they will cause a few upsets as they rebuild.
Results will be posted as they come to hand.
